What I’m reading this Christmas

I love this time of year for reading. A long Christmas holiday means plenty of hours for reading some festive reads. Christmas stories really help get me in the festive spirit and so I thought I’d share three books I’m looking forward to reading this year.

Christmas Books

Snowdrift by Georgette Heyer

Snowdrift by Georgette Heyer
This is a beautiful new collection of stories set in Georgette Haye’s sparkling Regency world. The collection promises stories of romance, intrigue and escapades all told in Haye’s witty and elegant style. As a huge fan of Jane Austen, this is the perfect way to spend an afternoon exploring the era with a sprinkling of snow.

I’ll be Home for Christmas by Various

I'll be Home for Christmas
Another short story collection, this time written by some of the best UKYA authors with the theme of ‘home’ at the heart of each story. With writers like Non Pratt, Benjamin Zephaniah and Marcus Sedgwick all involved, this is sure to be a thought provoking and special book.

The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper

The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper
This children’s classic has been on my to read pile for a long time and I think it will be the perfect cosy read this year. Set at Christmas-time in the Stanton family home, everything is festive and merry until eleven-year-old Will wakes up to a different world. A world covered in snow where evil is lurking. Inspired by ancient beliefs, this Vintage Classics edition also tells the story behind the story.

I would love to know which books you are planning to read this year so let me know in the comments below.
